Spring Festival Since ancient time, Spring Festival has been a custom and impressed on our life.Today it’s not only a tradition but also a China culture.The Spring Festival，Chinese New Year，is the most important festival for all of us.All family members get together on New Year' Eve to have a big meal.At the same time，everyone celebrates to each other.At about 12 o'clock，some parents and children light crackers.The whole sky is lighted brightly.We may watch the fireworks excitedly.How wonderful it is！On the first early morning of one year，many senior citizen get up early and they stick the reversed Fu or hang some couplets on the front door.Some house's windows are sticked on red paper-cut.The Chinese New Year lasts fifteen days.So during the fifteen days，we always visit our relatives from door to door.At that time，children are the happiest because they can get many red packets form their parents，grandparents，uncles，aunts and so on.The last day of the Chinese New Year is another festival.It names the Lantern Festival.About Spring Festival has amazing legend.Long long ago, a monster named Nian was very fierce when it’s last day of the year, the monster appeared to eat people door to door.One day the monster came to small village.It held compete in the village, the monster suddenly heard firecrackers, rapidly escaping from the village.It ran towards other village and saw red clothes that were hanging at the door.It did not know what it was, so it fled too.Then it came the other one, it looked inside a house, seeing bright lights.It was scared and ran away as fast as it could.From that time, people knew the monster scared something red﹑firecrackers and lights.According these people thought many ways to defend against the monster, gradually these ways has developed into today’s Chinese New Year custom.Wang Jieqinog class 2 Student number 42

There are four main customs when we celebrate New Year in China.Ancestor-worship, staying-up, pay a New Year call and blessing.Ancestor-worship This ceremony usually is held home.Some family hang ancestor portraits, most people place the name boards of ancestors at home.Before the clock struck twelve on New Year Eve，people set off firecrackers and place some fresh fruits , some dessert and some meat beside the name boards of ancestors to express honor to our ancestor.Ancestor-worship express our miss and honor to our ancestors in order to pray for ancestors bless our offspring，hoping everything goes well.At same time it shows Chinese traditional thought.Staying-up

Staying –up from Southern and Northern dynasties to today, people hope staying –up can brings happiness and peace in next year.There are two means about staying-up.One means people hope the young can cherish very minutes in life;on the other hand the young staying-up for the old can prolong life of the old.Before staying-up the family will get together to eat reunion dinner.Different families have different reunion dinners.After dinner we will paste Spring Couplets and Pictures and set off firecrackers.And then we will chat, watch TV program, drink some fruit juice or wine until the clock struck twelve.Pay a New Year call
