      我們都知道,在迎接遠(yuǎn)方來(lái)客時(shí),我們通常都會(huì)道:“你一路上辛苦了!”來(lái)表示對(duì)人的安慰??墒?,如果我們用 “I am afraid you must have a tiring journey.”這一語(yǔ)法正確的中式英文去迎接西方國(guó)家的客人時(shí),他們回覺得很不自然,因?yàn)檫@種場(chǎng)合他們使用的問(wèn)候語(yǔ)是 “Did you have a good trip?” 或“Did you enjoy your trip”等這類令人愉快的語(yǔ)句。

      首先是入坐的位置,在中國(guó),主人應(yīng)等客人到齊后再導(dǎo)客入席。以左為上,視為首席,相對(duì)首座為二座,首座之下為三座。而在西方,一般說(shuō)來(lái),面對(duì)門的離門最遠(yuǎn)的那個(gè)座位是女主人的,與之相對(duì)的是男主人的座位。女主人右手邊的座位是第一主賓席,一般是位先生;男主人右邊的座位是第二主賓席、一般是主賓的夫人。女主人左邊的座位是第三主賓席,男主人的左邊的座位是第四主賓席。在我國(guó),上菜的一般順序是①湯②主食③餐酒 ④水果。西方是①菜和湯②水果③餐酒④主食⑤甜點(diǎn)和咖啡。

      餐具方面,我們常用的是杯子、盤子、碗、碟子、筷子、匙羹等幾種。西方人比較復(fù)雜,他們常用的是刀、叉、匙、盤、杯等,刀又分為食用刀、魚刀、肉刀、奶油刀、水果刀;叉又分為食用叉、魚叉、龍蝦叉。公用刀叉的規(guī)格一般大于使用刀叉。匙又分湯匙,茶匙等。杯的種類更多,茶杯、咖啡杯為瓷器,并配小碟;水杯,酒杯多為玻璃制品。

      3中西服飾禮儀的不同

      古今中外,著裝從來(lái)都體現(xiàn)著一種社會(huì)文化,體現(xiàn)著一個(gè)人的文化修養(yǎng)和審美情趣,是一個(gè)人的身份、氣質(zhì)、內(nèi)在素質(zhì)的無(wú)言的介紹信。從某種意義上說(shuō),服飾是一門藝術(shù),服飾所能傳達(dá)的感情與意蘊(yùn)甚至不是用語(yǔ)言所能代替的。在不同場(chǎng)合,穿著得體、適度的人,給人留下好印象,而穿著不當(dāng),則會(huì)降低人的身份,損害自身的形象。在社交場(chǎng)合,得體的服飾是一種禮貌,一定程度上直接影響著人際關(guān)系的和諧。影響著裝效果的因素,重要的一是要有文化修養(yǎng)和高尚的審美能力,即所謂“腹有詩(shī)書氣自華”。二是要有運(yùn)動(dòng)的健美的素質(zhì)。健美的形體是著裝美的天然條件。三是要掌握著裝的常識(shí)、著裝的原則和服飾禮儀的知識(shí),這是內(nèi)外和諧統(tǒng)一沒(méi)的不可缺少的條件。中西方服飾禮儀著重點(diǎn)即代表服飾

      西方人重視身份,把衣服變成象征,中國(guó)注重韻味。如果說(shuō)西方文化刻意追求表現(xiàn)人體美,而完全忽略了服飾倫理,那么中國(guó)服飾文化由于受到傳統(tǒng)的倫理觀念的影響還或多或少地保留著一些道德上的體統(tǒng)。而最能代表我們國(guó)家的是中山裝,西方待變裝飾是西裝。

      傳中山服時(shí),不僅要扣上全部的衣扣,而且要系上領(lǐng)扣,并且不允許挽起衣袖。在穿雙排扣西服時(shí),必須扣上全部衣扣。穿單排三??畚鞣r(shí),僅能扣上上一?;蛑?、上兩??圩?;穿單排兩??畚鞣r(shí),只能扣上上一粒扣子;不允許扣上單排扣西服的全部衣扣。在穿西服時(shí),宜穿白色襯衫,打領(lǐng)帶。他們喜歡黑色,因此一般穿黑色的皮鞋。西方女士在正式場(chǎng)合要穿禮服套裝。另外女士外出有戴耳環(huán)的習(xí)俗。西方國(guó)家,尤其是在美國(guó),平時(shí)人們喜歡穿休閑裝,如T恤加牛仔服。此外,中西方在結(jié)婚是所穿的服飾也是有所不同的。中國(guó)傳統(tǒng)婚禮進(jìn)行時(shí)新郎和新娘具著紅色的禮服,象征的吉祥如意,預(yù)示在結(jié)婚后日子紅紅火火。而西方的新娘則穿白色的禮服。這是因?yàn)樽粤_馬時(shí)代開始,白色象征歡慶。1850年到1900年之間,白色亦是富貴的象征。到了本世紀(jì)初,白色所代表的純潔意義更遠(yuǎn)超其他。西方認(rèn)為白色與童貞有關(guān)。紗,象征著激情的火焰。在西方的天主教傳統(tǒng)里?!皞鹘y(tǒng)”的白色結(jié)婚禮服,在早期是貴族的特權(quán)。在多利亞女王時(shí)代,大多數(shù)的新娘只能穿傳統(tǒng)的國(guó)家服裝,只有上層階級(jí)才能穿代表權(quán)力和身份的白色婚紗。一直到近代,貴族階級(jí)的特權(quán)消失以后,白色的婚紗才成為普通新娘的禮服。而相對(duì)于西方白色婚紗的歷史,中國(guó)婚禮中的大紅色的鳳袍的歷史則較簡(jiǎn)單。龍鳳在中國(guó)的神話中有著重要的地位。龍主陽(yáng)鳳主陰,而陽(yáng)則代表男子,陰就表示女子。因此新娘就用鳳表示。所以中方新娘所穿的禮服上往往繡有鳳的圖案。

      俗話講,人是衣服,馬是鞍。盡管以貌取人并不可取,但是在現(xiàn)代生活中,服飾越來(lái)越成為禮儀的一個(gè)重要部分,穿著打扮的得體與否,不僅僅是個(gè)人品味的體現(xiàn),更能成為人們彼此考慮的一個(gè)尺度。偉大的英國(guó)作家莎士比亞曾經(jīng)說(shuō):“一個(gè)人的穿著打扮,就是他的教養(yǎng)、品味、地位的最真實(shí)的寫照?!蹦敲丛谌粘9ぷ骱徒煌?,尤其是在正規(guī)的場(chǎng)合,穿著打扮的問(wèn)題越來(lái)越引起我們現(xiàn)代人的重視。

      4中西婚禮禮儀的差異

      結(jié)婚不僅是兩個(gè)人的事,也代表著兩個(gè)家族的結(jié)合,因此不同的地方也有著其獨(dú)特的結(jié)婚習(xí)俗。這里我們拿中西方的婚禮禮儀做比較。

      西式婚禮是證婚人(牧師,神父或主持婚禮的長(zhǎng)輩)走到婚禮臺(tái)的正中位置,面對(duì)賓客站定下來(lái).新郎與主伴郎走到證婚人的左手邊(即賓客的右邊),面對(duì)賓客站好,女儐相們站在左邊,男儐相們站在右邊.花童站在主伴娘的后面,戒童站在主伴郎的后面.婚禮進(jìn)行曲奏響,新娘手捧鮮花,挽著父親的手入場(chǎng).在新教的婚禮上,新娘的父親與女兒站在一起,牧師站在新人面前一兩步的距離,詢問(wèn):"是誰(shuí)嫁出這位女子?“他的父親把女兒的右手放在牧師的手上說(shuō):”是她的母親和我.“然后父親退到臺(tái)階下面前排左邊的座位跟前,坐在自己妻子的旁邊.牧師用右手舉起新娘的手,再用左手舉起新郎的手,并且非常莊重地將新娘的手放在新郎的手上.如果新娘既沒(méi)有父親,近親中又沒(méi)有男性長(zhǎng)輩,她可以獨(dú)自走上圣壇.在天主教的婚禮上,無(wú)需在神夫面前舉行嫁女兒的儀式.當(dāng)新娘走進(jìn)圣壇時(shí),新郎應(yīng)上前迎接,并讓新娘站在他的左邊.此時(shí),新娘的父親收回自己的胳膊,新娘把右手伸給新郎,挎在他的左臂上.也可以手拉手或者肩并肩地站著,面向圣壇.證婚人詢問(wèn)新郎新娘”是否愿意接受對(duì)方成為你的丈夫/妻子“,新人互相說(shuō)完”我愿意“之后,宣讀結(jié)婚誓言來(lái)表達(dá)他們相親相愛,忠貞不渝的決心.接下來(lái)新人互相交換戒指,并說(shuō)到:”這枚戒指象征我們兩人的結(jié)合.“ 這時(shí)候,證婚人宣布新人的結(jié)合生效,并示意新郎親吻新娘.之后證婚人示意新人轉(zhuǎn)向賓客,并宣讀:”女士們先生們,我榮幸地想你們介紹XX先生和夫人."新人在人們的起立鼓掌中,重新走過(guò)婚禮甬道,走出婚禮會(huì)場(chǎng).婚宴開始前,新人還未入場(chǎng)之際,通常有一段雞尾酒時(shí)間.在新人及全體來(lái)賓館到達(dá)婚宴地點(diǎn)的時(shí)候,新郎,新娘,儐相和新人家長(zhǎng)要站在會(huì)場(chǎng)入口迎賓.當(dāng)所有來(lái)賓入座后,主持人宣布新人及家長(zhǎng)入場(chǎng),并依次介紹入場(chǎng)者的姓名和身份.順序如下:新娘父母,新郎父母,伴娘和伴郎,主伴郎和住伴娘,最后是新婚夫婦入場(chǎng),全場(chǎng)來(lái)賓起立鼓掌.在有席位的婚宴上,人們一入座,就應(yīng)上第一道菜.在吃完餐未甜點(diǎn)和水果后才跳舞.如果在下午的婚禮后立即舉行招待會(huì),使晚宴向后推延,就應(yīng)在晚宴前請(qǐng)大家跳舞.如果是自助餐形式的招待會(huì),新郎和新娘在恢復(fù)了迎賓疲勞之后,就應(yīng)開始跳舞.在新娘新郎跳第一支舞時(shí),所有的賓客都應(yīng)觀看,喝彩。新娘的第二個(gè)舞伴是她的公公,然后是她的父親。同時(shí),新郎邀請(qǐng)他的岳母跳舞,然后請(qǐng)自己的母親跳舞。接著是新郎的父親邀請(qǐng)新郎的母親跳舞。當(dāng)新郎開始與伴娘們一起跳舞時(shí),客人們也開始找舞伴跳舞。當(dāng)然,所有的男賓們都應(yīng)設(shè)法請(qǐng)新娘跳舞。宴會(huì)接近尾聲時(shí),新娘請(qǐng)來(lái)賓中的未婚女士集中在樓梯下面或其他適合的地方,新娘在走下一半樓梯時(shí),將花束扔給她們,搶到花束的女孩被認(rèn)為是下一個(gè)結(jié)婚的姑娘。為了表示沒(méi)有偏袒,新娘在扔花時(shí),要轉(zhuǎn)過(guò)身,從肩頭往后扔。然后,新娘在母親和伴娘的陪同下回房間換旅行裝。新郎也在伴郎的陪同下來(lái)到預(yù)先安排好的房間換裝。雙方的家人聚集在門口,歡送新婚夫婦啟程。新人在眾人的歡呼聲中上車離去,踏上蜜月旅程。而中式禮儀則是吉日一到,新郎要親自率領(lǐng)儀仗前往迎娶。男方至女方家迎親,要先進(jìn)雁為禮,以此表達(dá)夫婦堅(jiān)貞不移,琴瑟合鳴,白頭偕老的美好愿望。清代北京的婚禮,大多有模仿帝王儀仗的趨向,一人在最前邊盛裝騎馬負(fù)責(zé)開路,然后依次是回避牌,吹鼓手,鍘鑼,綴燈,旌旗等,同時(shí)把金瓜,鉞斧,朝天鐙等各種兵器,也都排列在儀仗的行列里。新郎騎馬或坐綠幃轎在前,新娘的繡花大紅轎隨行于后,真實(shí)威風(fēng)凜凜,此時(shí)此地的新郎好比狀元及第,難怪說(shuō)結(jié)婚就是“小登科”了。花轎抵達(dá)女家門前時(shí),女家一定大門緊閉,這叫攔門。男方在外叩門,催請(qǐng)新娘上轎。這時(shí),便要有一番禮節(jié)性的對(duì)答,女家院內(nèi)必有人隔門要"紅包兒".?dāng)r門到了一定的時(shí)間,男方才能進(jìn)門. 進(jìn)門后除了特別的寒暄,男方要送上禮品.這些禮品因都會(huì)有喜慶的意義.娶親的歸途,必須走另一條路,表示"不走回頭路."如果路上碰到廟,井,祠,墳,大石和大樹等,都要張氈把轎子遮起來(lái),為的是辟邪. 娶親的花轎及儀仗回到男家門前時(shí),男家亦照例大門緊閉,說(shuō)是可以煞煞新娘的性子.大門開開之后,花轎抬進(jìn)庭院,要先過(guò)火盆,送親人和新娘的兄弟,就隨著花轎進(jìn)入庭院休息,男家以酒筵相款待. 轎的時(shí)辰一到,把花轎抬到大廳門口.此時(shí)新郎先向轎門作三個(gè)揖,由送親太太啟開轎門,由伴娘攙新娘下轎.然后遞給新娘一個(gè)小瓷瓶,瓶?jī)?nèi)裝以五谷及黃白戒指兩枚或四枚.新娘把寶瓶抱在懷里,然后由伴娘及送親太太挽扶,姍姍而行,另由兩人前后接鋪紅氈,使新娘腳不沾地。此時(shí)新郎已站在天地神案前,手持弓箭向新娘身上輕射三箭,借以驅(qū)除邪魔。射箭的姿勢(shì)是射一箭退一步,然后新娘跨馬鞍,走火盆,這些禮節(jié)過(guò)了之后,就在供案前舉行結(jié)婚大典,俗語(yǔ)叫“拜天地“。拜過(guò)天地之后,就引新娘進(jìn)入洞房。新郎新娘進(jìn)入洞房后,儀式也是一系列的。首先是坐帳,亦稱“坐?!薄P吕尚履镫p雙坐在洞房的炕沿上或床上,新郎將自己的左衣襟壓在新娘的右衣襟上,表示男人應(yīng)該壓女人一頭。還要撒喜果于帳中,稱為“撒帳”,一般所撒的物品有棗,栗子,花生等,利用諧音表示“早立子”,“花著生”。接著的節(jié)目就是吃子孫餑餑,子孫餑餑是從女家?guī)Ю?。吃過(guò)子孫餑餑,又吃長(zhǎng)壽面,長(zhǎng)壽面是由男家準(zhǔn)備的,取“子孫萬(wàn)代,長(zhǎng)生不老”的意思。然后是“合巹”酒,又稱“交杯酒”。用一根紅繩,兩頭各系一只酒杯。新郎新娘各飲半杯,在交換杯子喝盡杯中酒。交杯酒禮是在洞房之中舉行的,然后在大廳里又?jǐn)[一桌酒席,俗語(yǔ)叫“團(tuán)圓飯”,席間新郎新娘坐上座,其余賓客均坐陪座,表示從此成為一家一姓。

      5.中西宗教禮儀的不同

      在現(xiàn)代社會(huì)里,宗教是一種不容忽略的客觀存在。馬克思主義認(rèn)為:它實(shí)際上是人類社會(huì)發(fā)展到一定階段時(shí),所出現(xiàn)的一種社會(huì)的,歷史的現(xiàn)象。所謂宗教禮儀,在此是指宗教信仰者為對(duì)其崇拜的對(duì)象表示崇拜與恭敬所舉行的各種例行的儀式、活動(dòng),以及宗教密切相關(guān)的禁忌與講究。這里以最能代表中西方宗教的當(dāng)今世界三大宗教之二的佛教和基督教作為論述對(duì)象。基督教:與基督教信仰者打交道時(shí),不已對(duì)其尊敬的上帝、圣母、基督以及其他圣徒、圣事說(shuō)長(zhǎng)道短,不宜任意使用圣象與其宗教標(biāo)志。對(duì)神職人員,一般不應(yīng)表現(xiàn)不敬之意?!?66”在基督徒眼里代表魔鬼撒旦,“13”與“星期五”也被其視為不祥的事物,所有的基督徒都會(huì)對(duì)其敬而遠(yuǎn)之,因此不應(yīng)有意令對(duì)方接觸它們。

      有些教派的基督徒有守齋之習(xí)。守齋時(shí),他們絕對(duì)不食肉、不飲酒。在一般情況下,基督徒不食用蛇、鱔、鰍、鯰等無(wú)鱗無(wú)鰭的水生動(dòng)物。就餐前,基督徒多進(jìn)行祈禱。非基督徒雖然不必照此辦理,但也不宜在其前面搶先而食。在基督教的專項(xiàng)儀式上,講究著裝典雅,神態(tài)莊嚴(yán),舉止檢點(diǎn)。教堂為基督的圣殿。它允許非基督徒進(jìn)入?yún)⒂^,但禁止在其中打鬧、喧嘩,或者舉止有礙其宗教活動(dòng)。佛教:佛門弟子及其居所的具體稱呼有別。凡出家者,男稱為僧,女稱為尼。凡不出家者,則一律稱為居士。僧之居所稱為“寺”,尼之居所稱為“庵”,有時(shí)統(tǒng)稱二者為寺廟。對(duì)所有出家者,一律禁止稱呼其原有的姓名。故民間有“僧不言名,道不言壽”之說(shuō)。普通的佛教信徒為了“廣種福田”,通常應(yīng)向寺廟、僧尼或別人主動(dòng)贈(zèng)送財(cái)物,此舉叫做“布施”。

      佛教的基本禮節(jié)為合十禮,基本的禮頌用語(yǔ)是“佛祖保佑”。佛教信徒拜佛時(shí),講究行頂禮,即所謂“五體投地”。對(duì)于佛祖、佛像、寺廟以及僧尼,佛教均要求其信徒畢恭畢敬。不準(zhǔn)攀登、侮辱佛像。不準(zhǔn)觸摸、辱罵僧尼,不得于僧尼“平起平坐”。進(jìn)入寺廟時(shí),宜慢步輕聲,不亂動(dòng),不亂講,不亂拍照等。

      當(dāng)正當(dāng)?shù)姆鸾虄x式進(jìn)行時(shí),不應(yīng)對(duì)其任意阻撓或者蓄意加以擾亂。我國(guó)的佛教各流派多屬于“北傳佛教”。它的關(guān)鍵性講究有二:信徒應(yīng)遵守“五戒”。即規(guī)定起信徒不殺生,不盜竊,不邪淫,不飲酒,不妄語(yǔ);飲食上忌食“五葷”。即禁止其信徒食用蔥、蒜、韭菜等幾種氣味刺鼻的菜蔬。有些教派,還規(guī)定其僧尼“過(guò)午不食”

      了解宗教的禮儀,是幫助我們了解世界各國(guó)人民精神生活和日常習(xí)俗的一把鑰匙,也是在交際活動(dòng)中對(duì)游客尊重和友好的表現(xiàn)。

      五.研究方法

      1文獻(xiàn)法:通過(guò)圖書館、網(wǎng)站等搜集關(guān)于中西禮儀文化的差異的資料; 2調(diào)查法:通過(guò)走訪外教、涉外辦事旅游人員、歸國(guó)留學(xué)生及華僑,掌握中西禮儀文化差別的真實(shí)資料;

      3討論法:邀請(qǐng)語(yǔ)文教師、英語(yǔ)教師參與課題組討論,實(shí)現(xiàn)材料與觀點(diǎn)的交流與整合。

      六.研究的成效

      1.通過(guò)這次的研究性學(xué)習(xí),我們粗略地了解了中西方禮儀文化上的差異。我們應(yīng)尊重這些差異做到入鄉(xiāng)隨俗; 2同時(shí)我們也意識(shí)到了禮儀文化的重要性,因?yàn)榻浑H過(guò)程中的禮儀文化包含著個(gè)人的文明素養(yǎng),體現(xiàn)著個(gè)人的品行修養(yǎng);

      3主觀方面,我們了解了中西方在問(wèn)候、待客、就餐、服飾及宗教方面的差異之后,對(duì)西方的文化有了更近一步的了解,同時(shí)它讓我們對(duì)西方的文化有了更深的興趣,感受到了世界文化的多樣性。

      七,研究后的困惑

      1.中西方禮儀文化有無(wú)相似之處?

      從比較中西餐桌禮儀的餐具使用差異、座次安排差異、就餐氛圍差異、及餐桌話語(yǔ)差 論文摘要 異四個(gè)方面來(lái)看跨文化交際中的文化差異,旨在說(shuō)明堅(jiān)持自己的優(yōu)秀文化傳統(tǒng)的同時(shí),要采用 一個(gè)客觀、寬容、尊重的心態(tài)對(duì)待異國(guó)文化以便能在跨文化交際中能恰當(dāng)?shù)?、得體地進(jìn)行交際。易中天先生曾經(jīng)在《餐桌上的文化》里對(duì)中西文化進(jìn)行了精妙闡釋中國(guó)文化的思想內(nèi)核是“群。所以西方人即使請(qǐng)客吃飯,也是各點(diǎn)各的菜、體意識(shí)”,西方文化的思想內(nèi)核則是“個(gè)體意識(shí)” 各喝各的酒,以免把自己的意志強(qiáng)加于人。中國(guó)文化則認(rèn)為個(gè)人的意志,必須服從群體的共同 意志。其目的既然意在人情,意在血緣,則其方式禮儀,自然也就以和為貴了,因此中國(guó)人愛 聚餐、喜共食、講和合。筆者認(rèn)為在跨文化交際中,面對(duì)陌生文化,因思維方式、生活習(xí)慣和 行為方式不同,交往過(guò)程中難免發(fā)生文化沖突。筆者從如下四個(gè)方面對(duì)中西餐桌禮儀進(jìn)行簡(jiǎn)單 的比較,以便在跨文化交際中能恰當(dāng)?shù)?、得體地進(jìn)行交際。

      一、從餐具使用上看中西文化差異

      筷子刀叉是中西餐桌禮儀最基本差異。浙江大學(xué)游修齡教授認(rèn)為:東西方出現(xiàn)進(jìn)食工具筷子和 刀叉的不同,和環(huán)境有關(guān)系??曜右l(fā)源于有竹子的地方。我國(guó)北方多木,南方多竹,祖先就 地取材,竹木均成為我國(guó)最原始的筷箸原料。刀叉的出現(xiàn)比筷子要晚很多。據(jù)游修齡教授的研 究,刀叉的最初起源和歐洲古代游牧民族的生活習(xí)慣有關(guān),他們馬上生活隨身帶刀,往往將肉 燒熟,割下來(lái)就吃。大約 15 世紀(jì)前后,為了改進(jìn)進(jìn)餐的姿勢(shì),歐洲人才使用了雙尖的

      叉。到 18 世紀(jì)才有了四個(gè)叉尖的叉子。刀叉和筷子,不僅帶來(lái)了進(jìn)食習(xí)慣的差異,還影響了東西方人 生活觀念。游修齡教授認(rèn)為,刀叉必然帶來(lái)分食制,而筷子肯定與家庭成員圍坐桌邊共同進(jìn)餐 相配。西方一開始就分吃,由此衍生出西方人講究獨(dú)立,子女長(zhǎng)大后就獨(dú)立闖世界的想法和習(xí)慣。而筷子帶來(lái)的合餐制,突出了老老少少坐一起的家庭單元,從而讓東方人擁有了比較牢固 的家庭觀念。筆者提醒在使用餐具時(shí)中西均有不同的規(guī)范。如中餐進(jìn)餐時(shí)不可玩弄筷子(把它 們當(dāng)鼓槌是非常失禮的做法),更不可以用筷子向人指指點(diǎn)點(diǎn)或打手勢(shì)示意。當(dāng)然,絕對(duì)不可吸 吮筷子或把筷子插在米飯中,這是大忌(這好像葬禮上的香燭,被認(rèn)為是不吉利的)。在使用刀 叉時(shí)也有一些禁忌。如 手里拿著刀叉時(shí)切勿指手畫腳。發(fā)言或交談時(shí),應(yīng)將刀叉放在盤上才合 乎禮儀。忌用自己的餐具為別人夾菜。餐具掉落不要彎腰拾撿。餐品不要一次性切好,尤其帶 湯汁的餐品,要一小塊的逐一切食等等。

      二、從座次安排上看中西文化差異

      中西都講究正式的宴請(qǐng)活動(dòng)的座次安排。中國(guó)人請(qǐng)客傳統(tǒng)上用八仙桌。對(duì)門為上,兩邊為偏座。請(qǐng)客時(shí),年長(zhǎng)者、主賓或地位高的人坐上座,男女主人或陪客者坐下座,其余客人按順序坐偏 座。西方人請(qǐng)客用長(zhǎng)桌,男女主人分坐兩端,然后按男女主賓和一般客人的次序安排座位,即 男女穿插安排,以女主人的座位為準(zhǔn),主賓坐在女主人的右上方,主賓夫人坐在男主人的右上 方,講究“女士?jī)?yōu)先”的西方紳士,都會(huì)表現(xiàn)出對(duì)女士的殷勤。在中國(guó),左為尊,右為次;上 為尊,下為次;中為尊,偏為次。而在西方,右為尊,左為次。筆者特別提示西餐入座禮儀:最得體的入座方式是從左側(cè)入座。手肘不要放在桌面上,不可蹺 足。不可在進(jìn)餐時(shí)中途退席(如有事確需離開應(yīng)向左右的客人小聲打招呼)用餐時(shí)。坐姿端正,背挺直,脖子伸長(zhǎng)。上臂和背部要靠到椅背,腹部和桌子保持約一個(gè)拳頭的距離。記得要抬頭挺 胸著吃,在把面前的食物送進(jìn)口中時(shí),要以食物就口,而非彎下腰以口去就食物。

      三、從就餐氛圍上看中西文化差異

      中國(guó)人餐桌上的鬧與西方餐桌上的靜是中西餐桌禮儀最根本差異。餐桌氣氛上的差異,中國(guó)餐桌上動(dòng),西方餐桌上靜。中國(guó)人以食為人生之至樂(lè),排場(chǎng)之大,氣氛之熱鬧常常令人嘆為觀止。中國(guó)人一坐上餐桌,便滔滔不絕,相互讓菜,勸酒,盡情的享受山珍海味,美味佳肴。這樣的 宴客方式才能體現(xiàn)主人的熱情和誠(chéng)懇,餐桌上的熱鬧反映了食客發(fā)自內(nèi)心的歡快。這種“鬧” 能從某種程度上折射中國(guó)人家庭溫馨、鄰里和睦、國(guó)人團(tuán)結(jié)的“一團(tuán)和氣”。西方人一坐到餐桌 上便專心致志的去靜靜的切割自家的盤中餐。喝湯時(shí)不能發(fā)出響聲,如湯菜過(guò)熱,可待稍涼后 再吃,不要用嘴吹。吃東西時(shí)要閉嘴咀嚼。不要舔嘴唇或咂嘴發(fā)出聲音。進(jìn)餐時(shí)可以與左右客 人交談,但不要只同幾個(gè)熟人交談。左右客人如不認(rèn)識(shí),可先自我介紹。別人講話不可搭嘴插 話。音量保持對(duì)方能聽見的程度。咀嚼食物不要說(shuō)話,即使有人同你講話,也要等咽下食物后 再回答。

      四、從餐桌話語(yǔ)上看中西文化差異

      中國(guó)人請(qǐng)客吃飯時(shí),擺在桌上的菜花樣繁多,至少有七、八道菜,如果是盛宴,主菜會(huì)更多,越名貴、越奇特的菜會(huì)越顯示主任的殷勤和客人的身份。而主人卻往往要說(shuō)“今天沒(méi)有什么好 菜招待大家”“菜做得不好,多吃一點(diǎn)” “多多包涵” “怠慢了您”之類的話。而西方盛宴、、一般四至五道菜,份量以吃完或稍有剩余為最佳。如果在家里,最好是吃完所有的菜,這樣女 主人會(huì)很高興,認(rèn)為大家喜歡她做的菜。面對(duì)豐盛的宴席,主人會(huì)說(shuō)“已經(jīng)傾其所有來(lái)招待大 家” 的話。對(duì)中西主人的餐桌話語(yǔ)進(jìn)行推理,很容易得出:中國(guó)人遵循了“貶己尊人”的原則。而西方人強(qiáng)調(diào)效率和實(shí)用主義價(jià)值觀,在交際中十分注重自身面子的需要。如在宴席上西方人 不議論令人作嘔之事,會(huì)千方百計(jì)采用含蓄文雅的詞來(lái)替代 toilet,如: “Where can I wash my hand?”“I wonder if I could go somewhere.”“ Can I add some powder?”等。另外,在西方國(guó)家不要問(wèn)“吃飯了嗎?”等我國(guó)習(xí)慣的問(wèn)候語(yǔ)?!澳燥埩藛??”容易使人莫名其妙,甚至?xí)?現(xiàn)誤會(huì)。如在英國(guó),你若問(wèn)人吃飯沒(méi)有,其含義是你有意請(qǐng)對(duì)方吃飯;這對(duì)于未婚男女,則表 明你有意約會(huì)對(duì)方。

      Abstract: Table manners are the rules of etiquette used while eating.Different cultures observe different rules for table manners.This article has some contrastive analysis and research on the cultural differences of table manners between East and West from the point of view on sense of arriving time, seat arrangement, order of serving dishes, tableware, behaviour and communication.It is concluded that with the wide spreading of intercultural communication people in East and West are deeply transformed,permeated and accepted to one another.They come to respect and tolerate different table manners, thus are even assimilative and syncretize with each other.Key words: table manners;cultural differences;syncretism

      1.Introduction

      With the rapid development of economy and culture, having meals is not only for the basic physical satisfaction, but also the important skill in social communication.Striving for civic virtues and having good manners have become increasingly common understanding of the public.In China, which has been a nation of etiquette and particular about food being the first necessity of the people since antiquity, table manners has a long history and has naturally become an important part of dining culture.With the deepening of open policy in our country and the strengthening of communication between East and West, people have more and more opportunities to cooperate with foreigners.Naturally, Chinese cannot avoid having dinners with foreigners.A series of table manners including sense of arriving time, seat arrangement, order of serving dishes, tableware, behaviour and communication reflect different culture and life-style in nations or countries.There are many differences of table manners between eastern and western countries.To understand these differences can not only avoid committing a breach of etiquette to each other, but also promote the development of humanity culture in both countries and achieve interpersonal harmony in cross-cultural communication.2.Literature Review

      As we all know, different countries have different cultures.Culture is the collective programming of the mind which distinguishes the members of one category of people from another(Hofstede, 1991).As a kind of social customs, table manners are influenced by culture and vary in different areas.China, known as civilized ancient country, has characteristic table manners with a long history.Western countries also formed their own table manners during the syncretism of nations and modernization.To a certain degree, having good table manners is a symbol of a nation's civilization and an expression of a person's moral cultivation and accomplishment level as well.With the deepen of open policy in our country and the strengthen of communication between East and West, it is necessary for us to improve the consciousness of cross-cultural communication and know the differences of table manners, such as sense of arriving time, seat arrangement, order of serving dishes, tableware, behaviour, communication and so on.The fully understanding of the differences can prevent the failure in politeness and promote personal status on the dinner table.Only if we realize cultural connotation of table manners and the differences between East and West, can we talk and behave decently in cross-cultural communication and make social communication harmonious.With an acute eye and an irrepressible wit, Margaret Visser takes a fascinating look at the way we eat our meals in the book The Rituals of Dinner.From the ancient Greeks to modern yuppies, from cannibalism and the taking of the Eucharist to formal dinners and picnics, she thoroughly defines the eating ritual.She takes the different table manners in different areas and races to show the development of the world civilization.In the book Culture on Dinner Table, Mr.Yi Zhongtian(2004)says that the core thought of Chinese culture is group consciousness while the western core thought is individual consciousness.Westerners order respective dishes by themselves rather than ask others for what they want.On the contrary, Chinese agrees that personal will should obey group common thought.In the book Differences and Syncretize of Etiquette Culture between East and West, Mr.Li Xiaojun explores the syncretism of etiquette culture between East and West on the basis of table manners to achieve the harmonious society.Yu Lin and Zhou You compare the cultural differences between East and West from the point of view on tableware, seat arrangement, dinner atmosphere and language.It aims at warning people to treat exotic culture with an objective, tolerant and respectful attitude while insisting on their own culture, in order to communicate properly and appropriately in cross-cultural communication.3.Cultural Differences of Table Manners 3.1 Sense of Arriving Time Hall has classified two kinds of people according to his observation.One is monochromic time and the other is polychromic time(Edward Hall, 1976:17).People from western countries hold monochromic time assuming time is linear and can be cut, so they pay much more attention to timetables and pre-arrangements.They are slaves to nothing but the clock, and time is treated as if it were something almost precious.While people from eastern countries insist on polychromic time, having no ideas of fixed timetable.Therefore, this difference is more obvious when attending a banquet.Generally speaking, Chinese people which holding polychromic time tend to be later to show up.They often arrive half an hour later than the prescribed time and the host also seems to have prepares for that.They always arrange some other programs for guests while waiting, such as playing cards, drinking tea or chatting, so that the guests who come earlier would not feel boring.Both the host and guests are used to this phenomenon and they do not regard this as a contempt or impolite behavior to the host.While in western countries, people do things strictly abide by the schedule and all the activities begins according to the predetermined time.People should arrive at the party on time especially the formal banquets.It is considered as impolite and contempt for the host and other guests if one arrives 10 minutes later.3.2 Seat Arrangement The seating arrangement is probably the most important part of Chinese table manners.The seat of honor, reserved for the master of the banquet or the guest with highest status, is the one in the center facing east or facing the entrance.Those of higher position sit closer to the master of the banquet.The guests of lowest position sit furthest from the seat of honor.If the guest of honor is not seated, other people are not allowed to be seated.And if he hasn’t eaten, others should not begin to eat.When a family holds a banquet, the seat of honor is for the guest with the highest status and the head of the house takes the least prominent seat.If it is a round table, then the one facing the entrance door is the guest of honor.The seats on the left hand are in turn second, fourth and sixth, etc, while those on the right hand are in turn third, fifth and seventh, etc, until they join together.In ancient times there was a piece of furniture known as an Eight Immortals table, a big square table with benches for two people on each side.If it is an Eight Immortals table and there is a seat facing the entrance door, then the right seat facing the entrance door is for the guest of honor.If there is no seat facing the entrance door, then the right seat facing the east is the seat of honor.Then the seats on the left side of the seat of honor are the second, fourth, sixth and eighth and those on the right side are the third, the fifth and the seventh.While in western countries, after the hostess announced dinner ready, male host will lead guests to the table in turn, and the hostess walks behind them.Some attentive host will also place name card on the table to show the seat.If there has no arrangement, the general principle for seat arrangement is that men and women sit separately.Men guests of honour take the prior seats which on the right hand of hostess while women guests of honour seat on the right hand of him, and the other couples sit in diagonal respectively.Men and women sitting separately shows the open and lively of the American banquet.It can promote the familiarity between each other and make the dining topic diversification and dining atmosphere peaceful.The principle for the seat arrangement is that the guest takes the seat first, the elderly prior to young people, the married prior to unmarried and stranger prior to the acquaintance and families.3.3 Order of Serving Dishes In China, many dishes have symbolic connotations, representing everything from wealth to a long life and the order of serving dishes shows Chinese characteristics.A Chinese meal begins with appetizers which are accompanied by beverage and wine.There are usually four or five of these appetizers, including cold meats, preserved eggs, smoked fish and vegetable relishes, all beautifully arranged either on separate dishes or on one large platter.Hot dishes that were boiled or poached are usually served first, followed by foods that were fried, such as stir-fried chicken and stir-fried shrimp, which are omitted most of the time.Hot food should be served from the left of the opposite seats of guests of honour.When serving the whole duck, chicken and fish, the head and tail can not be put toward the major seat.After the hot dishes, then comes the main course, rice, which is China's staple food.While in a feast or banquet, people always eat little because of the abundant of the food.At last, desserts and fruits are provided to help digestion.If there are lots of tables on the banquet, every dish should be served simultaneously.These programs can not only make the whole process in harmony and order, but also make host and guests expression and communication well.Therefore, the table manners can make the dinner perfect and make host and guests both cultivation fully display.In western countries, the first dish is also appetizer which with distinctive flavor.It is always with salty and acid taste and small quantity but high quality.The second dish is soup, which very different from China.The soup can be roughly divided into four categories of clear soup, cream soup, vegetable soup and cold soup.Generally, the third dish is fish dish, also known as side dish, which including many kinds of fish, shellfish and molluscs.As fish is easy to digest, it is served in front of meat dishes.Meat and poultry dishes is the fourth dish, which also known as the main course.The most representative is beef and steak.Vegetable dishes, called salad in western, can be arranged either after or with the meat dish, so it can be a kind of side dish.The six dish is dessert, which including all the food after the main course in a sense, such as pudding, ice cream, cheese, fruit and so on.The final is beverage that often includes coffee with cream or tea with sugar.3.4 Tableware Of course, the main difference on the dinner table between East and West is the different tablewares.Chopsticks, which have a long history, are the most important tableware in China.The tradition of using chopsticks as tableware was introduced to many other countries in the world.The invention of chopsticks reflects the wisdom of Chinese ancient people.A pair of chopsticks, though they look simple, can nip, pick, rip and stir food.When having a meal, chopsticks should be put tidily on the right of the bowl.When finishing a meal, they should be put vertically on the mid-line of the bowl.Spoon is mainly used to drink soup or take quite small food.Do not get too full when using the spoon to get food, lest overflow make the table and clothes dirty.Plate is mainly used to fill the food, according the amount and shape of food it served.The plate that slight small should be put on the left of bowl to temporarily put food taken from the public dishes.Food wastes and bone should be put in the front of the small plate with chopsticks instead of directly spitting into it.Generally speaking, people do not use much tablewares when having meals in China.Chinese people mainly use bowl, chopsticks and spoons.While in serving English meals, they use so much tablewares with different kinds and sizes.For example, there are different kinds of glasses in English, such as wine glass, cherry glass, brandy glass, beer glass, snifter glass, champion flute and high bowl.The use of tableware also shows different food culture in different countries.The main tablewares in western are knives, forks, spoons, glass and napkin.To start with, the fork is on the left side of the plate and the knife is on the right side.The knife which used to cut food into small pieces should be hold in the right hand.The fork and spoon can be placed either on the left or right hand of the table with the plate in the middle, depending on the person's preference on using the tableware.In general, the spoon is usually for soup.When using the spoon, start from the one closest to the bowl which closest to you and ladle out soup then sip from the spoon.If no soup is being served then it's meant for dessert.If you are right handed, then the knife goes into your right hand, fork in your left hand, and using the knife for cutting and eating with the fork.Some people refer to cut their meat or other items on their place into small pieces all at once and then just use their fork in their right hand and in most instances this is still considered good table manners.3.5 Behaviour and Communication Chinese people talked a lot and enjoy the delicious food when on the dinner table, which can reflect the hospitality and sincere of hostess.The lively atmosphere on the dinner table reflects the cheerful of guests, and it can reflect the warmth of family, the peace of neighbourhood and unite of the whole nation in a sense.While in western, people talked little and cut their own food in the plate quietly.They should not make any sounds when drinking and eating.If the soup is hot, they should wait instead of blowing with mouth.When Chinese invited guests to have dinner, there are so many dishes on the table, at least seven dishes.But host will say “There are not so much food for you all.” “The dish does not cook well.” and similar words.If the host asks “Would you like some more?”, then the guest may answer “No, thank you.I am full.” even if he is not full.After the host ask for many times, they maybe accept with embarrassment and little shameful.While in western, a dinner generally has four or five dishes and the host will simply say “Help yourself, please”.When the host asks “Would you like another piece of meat pie?”, you can answer directly “Yes, please.” or “Thank you, a piece of meat pie.” if you are not full.During the dinner, guests can praise the host such as “It is delicious.” or “This meat is beautifully tender.” to make host happy.Chinese followed the principle that belittle themselves and respect others.While westerners emphasize efficiency and pragmatism values and pay much attention to saving face and keeping their prestige.4.Main Factors Causing the Differences 4.1 Geography As we all know, different areas have different culture and custom.Because of the different location, natural conditions and geographical environment, different areas formed different regional culture which shows in that different nationalities using different language expression forms for the same kind of phenomenon or things.The geographical location and the environment lead to the differences between Chinese and western cultures.China is a big country with a vast territory abounding in natural resources, and the people’s way of life, customs, economic and cultural development, as well as general local conditions, all vary.For example, Chopsticks and, knife and fork is the most basic differences between Chinese and western table manners.You Xiuling, the professor of Zhejiang University, said that east and west appear different tablewares are related to the environment.Chopsticks should be originated in the place of lots of bamboo.There are much wood in north China and much bamboo in south China.So ancestors use local materials to make chopsticks and they became China's most primitive raw materials of chopsticks.The emergence of knife and fork is much later than that of chopsticks.According to the research of professor You Xiuling, the origin of knife and fork is related to the life habit of ancient European nomads, who always took knife along them and live on horseback.They cut down and eat meat as soon as it cooked.From then on, westerners use knife and fork as their tablewares.4.2 Tradition

      The different ethnic and national historical development process may result in different history and tradition.Thousands of years of Chinese traditional culture reflected in the Chinese Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism.As the core of Chinese traditional culture, Confucianism produces a profound and long influence on Chinese society.Confucianism has the traditional thought mainly emphasized “benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom, faith”.Taoists advocated “accustomization nature”, “pure” and he Buddhist is advocated “merciful Purdue beings” and “harmony”, “continued”.In the book Culture on Dinner Table, Mr.Yi Zhongtian said that the core thought of Chinese culture is group consciousness while the western core thought is individual consciousness.In sharp contrast, the western culture is a kind of “guilt”culture.They believe in god created man.The western culture, to be self-centered, the boundary between people is clear and they do not allow mutual interference.This individual culture contributed to western table manners without sharing a plate of food.But Chinese love peace and quiet life in the forest, and in the dining room use cheap chopsticks as tableware.The chopsticks can also reflect Chinese collective consciousness.Westerners prefer to colonize in restaurants, use a knife and fork in the class.Knife and fork also can reflect individual consciousness, and noble west of life.From the use of chopsticks we can see the whole course of using chopsticks is collaborative work.If one of them is absent, the whole work cannot be completed.It shows that collectivism is the core thought of Chinese nation.And knife and fork is born in modern industrial society, which is the production of socialization.Its main material is metal which shows social function of modern society, and failed to get rid of its offensive during socialization process.4.3 Custom

      Custom culture refers to the culture that formed in the daily social life and human communication activity by ethnic and habits.The differences of custom between east and west are various.Different nationalities show different ethnic culture and custom on many aspects such as greeting, thanks, flattery, apology, or making telephone calls.For example, when Chinese meet acquaintance, they always greet each other by asking “have you eaten” or “where are you going”.While in western culture, it does not belong to the greeting but a real problem.They may think “why does he ask me whether I have eaten” “does he want to invite me to have dinner”.When Chinese invited guests to have dinner, there are so many dishes on the table, but host says repeatedly “there is nothing for you” “have a potluck” and similar words.The host also helps pick food for guests and try his best to make guests eat and drink more.Westerner often doubted about this phenomenon.It is not realistic behaviour that host said there is nothing when there are so many dishes on the table.And their meal is very simple which often with a small number of delicious vegetables when they treat others.Host just says “help yourself” and they never carry food to guest's bowl.5.Trend of Syncretism As a country that pays great attention to courtesy, the cuisine culture is deep rooted in Chinese history.In either a Chinese home or restaurant, it is easy to find that table manners are essential.And the distinctive courtesies displayed will invariably add to the enjoyment of meals and keep people in high spirits.It is really an admirable custom to respect others at the table, including the aged, teachers and guests while taking good care of children.Chinese people stress filial piety all the time.The practice of presenting the best or fine food first to the senior members of the family has been observed for countless generations.In ancient times the common people led a needy life but they still tried their best to support the elder mother or father who took it for granted.Although the hosts in China are all friendly and hospitable, we should also show them respect.Before starting to eat dinner, the host may offer some words of greeting.Guests should not start to eat until the host says, 'Please enjoy yourself' or something like that, otherwise it suggests disrespect and causes displeasure.When hosts place dishes on the table, they will arrange the main courses at the center with the supporting dishes evenly placed around them.When the main dishes are prepared in a decorative form either by cut or other means they will be placed facing the major guests and elder people at the table, which also embodies virtue.Westerners have gradually accepted Chinese sentimental thought.And Chinese food has always been very popular in America.Many Americans grew up frequently eating lunches with dishes like wonton soup, chow mein and fried rice.There are abundant and extensive table manners forming in the east, while there are exquisite and distinctive table manners forming in the west.Nowadays, the trend of syncretism of table manners between east and west is mainly reflected in Chinese learning from westerners.More and more western restaurants appear in many cities in China and more and more people like to have meals in it.People have learned western table manners gradually in daily life.It is obvious that the Chinese diet conception is sensible, western diet idea is rational.This difference seems to become blurred with the strengthening of communication between East and West and the development of science.Like westerners, instead of paying attention to the color, flavour and taste of the food, Chinese people pay more attention to its health and nutrition.We should learn from western manners not only learn its form but also adopt its inner spirit.Only in this way can we build up our confidence and superiority and establish our appeal.And western style food, which was introduced into our country several hundred years ago, has grown up to be a vital new force on the Chinese food and beverage market.The dissemination and development of western style food in China has unavoidably exerted great influence on Chinese food and beverage industry and made Chinese style food trade change in the aspects of managing concept, management mode, productive means, personnel cultivation and so on.6.Conclusion Table manners reflect many differences between east and west, whether on sense of arriving time, seat arrangement, order of serving dishes, tableware or behaviour and language.Knowing the differences people can easily understand the culture of each other.In face of these differences, we should comprehend and respect their habits and culture and should remember that every culture is equal and there is no one prior to the other.Thus we can decently communicate with each other.Only recognizing cultural differences between East and West and making a reasonable and effective integration, can we establish a social cultural etiquette system of contemporary China and reach the ideal harmonious society.Bibliography       俗話說(shuō),一方水土養(yǎng)一方人,世界上沒(méi)有哪個(gè)民族是優(yōu)勢(shì)民族,也沒(méi)有哪一種方化是劣等文化。中西方文化之所以能傳承至今天仍然保持其鮮活的生命力,生生不息,歷久彌新,必然有其存在的價(jià)值與獨(dú)特性。因此,我們不能片面的斷定哪一種文化是好的,哪一種文化是差的,這種行為是武斷的。然而,對(duì)于中西方文化美與丑的認(rèn)識(shí),每個(gè)人有每個(gè)人不同的看法,所謂一千個(gè)讀者就有一千個(gè)哈姆雷特,每一種認(rèn)識(shí)和見解都代表著個(gè)人的審美情趣。

      燦爛的西方文化

      既讓要說(shuō)中西方文化的美與丑。首先來(lái)說(shuō)一下生活中人們對(duì)“美”與“丑”的評(píng)價(jià)標(biāo)準(zhǔn)。人們對(duì)美丑的認(rèn)識(shí)與職業(yè),經(jīng)歷,文化素養(yǎng),價(jià)值觀等諸多方面有關(guān),一個(gè)人隨人生閱歷的增長(zhǎng),對(duì)美丑的認(rèn)識(shí)也會(huì)發(fā)生變化??偨Y(jié)一下,美與丑的關(guān)系包括以下幾點(diǎn):

      1、美與丑相對(duì)的,缺少了任何一個(gè)就沒(méi)有了比較。

      2、美與丑是個(gè)人的審美,并不是所有人的審美。最簡(jiǎn)單的例子就是我覺得那些韓劇真心一點(diǎn)也沒(méi)意思,金秀賢,李敏鎬一點(diǎn)也不帥,而大多數(shù)女生覺得他們很帥。

      3、美與丑并不矛盾。因?yàn)槊琅c丑有很多種,一個(gè)個(gè)體上既可以存在美,也可以存在丑。例如一個(gè)人外表丑而心靈美。

      4、美與丑有區(qū)別:因?yàn)橛袇^(qū)別,我們才能夠分辨什么是丑、什么是美,從而有了美、丑這兩個(gè)詞。.沒(méi)有美何以見丑,沒(méi)有丑豈能顯美.這個(gè)哲學(xué)問(wèn)題太寬泛了,我在這里就不展開論述了!

      知道了美與丑的評(píng)價(jià)標(biāo)準(zhǔn),那么現(xiàn)在就來(lái)談?wù)勎覍?duì)東西方傳統(tǒng)文化差異性的認(rèn)識(shí)和其間美與丑的個(gè)人看法,可能有些見解比較偏面,還請(qǐng)大家見諒。文化是指一個(gè)社會(huì)所具有的民族知識(shí)、經(jīng)驗(yàn)、價(jià)值、信仰、習(xí)慣、制度、宗教、等級(jí)和時(shí)空觀念的總合,指一個(gè)社會(huì)、一個(gè)民族的整個(gè)生活方式。中西方文明在各自的發(fā)展歷程中,由于自然環(huán)境、歷史條件、地理位置和社會(huì)現(xiàn)實(shí)的不同,形成具有本民族特色的文化,深深印上民族精神的烙印,是民族靈魂最生動(dòng)的寫照。雖然全球經(jīng)濟(jì)一體化和網(wǎng)絡(luò)技術(shù)的飛速發(fā)展使不同文化愈來(lái)愈呈現(xiàn)“文化全球化”的趨勢(shì),然而千年的文化積淀非一朝一夕所能改變,中西文化的博大精深和文化傳統(tǒng)強(qiáng)勁的連續(xù)性決定了二者間在各個(gè)維度上的差異都仍然是巨大的。下面我就從從語(yǔ)言文字、建筑、繪畫雕塑、飲食等方面具體進(jìn)行論述。

      1、語(yǔ)言文字方面

      語(yǔ)言是文化的一部分,是傳承文化的重要載體。以漢語(yǔ)和現(xiàn)在國(guó)際社會(huì)比較流行的英語(yǔ)為例,中國(guó)人的思考速度比美國(guó)人的思考速度快。因?yàn)?,中?guó)人的“聲音的種類”比美國(guó)多。曾有人比較過(guò),用英語(yǔ)和漢語(yǔ)背誦乘法口訣的速度:漢語(yǔ)用了30秒,英語(yǔ)用了45秒。因此,兩人同時(shí)背誦乘法口訣。30秒的時(shí)候,漢語(yǔ)使用者一定想到了九九八十一,而英語(yǔ)使用者肯定想到不了這里,可能也就是七七四十九。這就說(shuō)明了:聲音種類多的語(yǔ)言的使用者比聲音種類少的語(yǔ)言的使用者思考速度快。普通話的聲音種類多于英語(yǔ),所以,中國(guó)人的思考速度比美國(guó)人快?,F(xiàn)在,英語(yǔ)單詞的數(shù)量,已經(jīng)超過(guò)百萬(wàn)了。驚人而可怕,普通人一輩子也記不完的。而這些單詞都可以用四千個(gè)漢字表達(dá)。真慶幸,我們生在中國(guó)而不是美國(guó)。而且,漢語(yǔ)采用象形會(huì)意的文字符號(hào),盡管由于經(jīng)歷歷史演變而與詞義的直觀聯(lián)系變得模糊了,但仍然留下文字理?yè)?jù)性的痕跡。每一個(gè)文字背后都隱藏著一段動(dòng)人的故事。而且,由于漢語(yǔ)獨(dú)特的魅力還演變出各種文化,如書法,篆刻,剪紙,服飾等,剪紙藝術(shù)

      服飾藝術(shù) 內(nèi)容非常博大精深,因此,就語(yǔ)言文字來(lái)說(shuō),漢語(yǔ)相對(duì)英語(yǔ)來(lái)講具有相當(dāng)?shù)膬?yōu)勢(shì),真心佩服我們先祖無(wú)與倫比的聰明才智。

      2、建筑方面

      作為一名建筑學(xué)的學(xué)生,我們已經(jīng)在過(guò)去的兩年多的時(shí)間里詳細(xì)學(xué)習(xí)了《中國(guó)建筑史》和《外國(guó)建筑史》,我想我們對(duì)中西方建筑的總體特征了解的還是比較多的。從根本上說(shuō),中西方建筑藝術(shù)的差異首先來(lái)自于材料的不同:傳統(tǒng)的西方建筑長(zhǎng)期以石頭為主體;而傳統(tǒng)的東方建筑則一直是以木頭為構(gòu)架的。這種建筑材料的不同,為其各自的建筑藝

      術(shù)提供了不同的可能性。西方由于崇尚力量,建筑總體上都建的雄壯有力,而中國(guó)比較注重靈活美觀,所以建筑比較輕巧,相比西方比較笨重的形體,我認(rèn)為中國(guó)建筑優(yōu)美的線條,精美的做工更勝一籌。

      在造園藝術(shù)上,西方古典園林表現(xiàn)為一種人工的創(chuàng)造。園林中所有的景 物,無(wú)論是建筑物還是山水樹木都有人工穿鑿的明顯印記, 其樓閣亭臺(tái)排列整齊, 花木修剪成形, 水源理成噴泉,一切都很規(guī)整。比較有代表的是法國(guó)的凡爾賽宮園林。造園手法以幾何直線為主,它與中國(guó)古典的皇家園林有著截然不同的風(fēng)格。它完全是人工雕琢的,極其講究對(duì)稱和幾何圖形化。

      中國(guó)古典園林風(fēng)格是崇尚自然, 在造園的過(guò)程中”自然”一直是中國(guó)園林進(jìn) 行藝術(shù)創(chuàng)作的最高原則和審美標(biāo)準(zhǔn)。中國(guó)古

      典園林把建筑、山水、植物有機(jī)地融為一體, 在有限的空間范圍內(nèi)利用自然條件, 模擬大自然中的美景, 力求再現(xiàn)大自然中各種事物、景物的造型和氣勢(shì)。中國(guó)古典園林無(wú)論是北方御園還是江南私園都很強(qiáng)調(diào)順應(yīng)自然,巧妙設(shè)置的山水樹木、亭臺(tái)樓閣, 顯現(xiàn)出濃郁的自然韻味。所以就造園手法來(lái)說(shuō),隨讓各有優(yōu)點(diǎn),我還是欣賞中國(guó)融自然與山水的造園手法

      3、繪畫雕塑方面

      要談中西方繪畫中美學(xué)的差異,必須要從它們的根源說(shuō)起。中國(guó)繪畫脫胎于工藝裝飾藝術(shù),古代中國(guó)繪畫三大體系中的院體畫、文人畫、民間畫都不同程度地傳承了裝飾藝術(shù)的典型特質(zhì),即平面性與裝飾性的審美趣味,畫者將表現(xiàn)對(duì)象依照自己的理解進(jìn)行美化加工,而非追求寫實(shí)的準(zhǔn)確性。而西方繪畫則溯源于古希臘藝術(shù),古希臘人善于捕捉微妙的比例關(guān)系,精于數(shù)學(xué)與哲學(xué),力求明白準(zhǔn)確,追求心靈健康與肉體完美。他們的藝術(shù)也力求逼真、寫實(shí)與理想的結(jié)合,從他們的雕塑中就可以看到這點(diǎn):雕塑多以最美的人體為摹本,表現(xiàn)自編神話中的眾神,形體極為精準(zhǔn),比例亦臻于完美。如柏拉圖所說(shuō):“藝術(shù)是摹本的摹本”。

      于是我們可以清晰地看出中西方繪畫中最本原的美學(xué)差異:寫意與寫實(shí)。

      中國(guó)繪畫偏于精神性的寫意,表達(dá)了畫者對(duì)物象的理解及感受,表現(xiàn)物象最本質(zhì)特征,并進(jìn)行了理想性塑造加工。其精神性常常高于畫本身的表達(dá)與技法,物象

      以后,特別是學(xué)了素描,水粉以后,我更喜歡西方的那種畫風(fēng)。但是畢加索的抽象畫雖然被公認(rèn)為傳世之作,也許由于自己藝術(shù)修養(yǎng)不足的原因吧,個(gè)人完全欣賞不了,自然覺得沒(méi)意思。

      4、飲食方面

      吃中餐時(shí),圍坐在餐桌旁的進(jìn)餐人各取所需,各自根據(jù)各自的喜好選取相應(yīng)的飯菜;餐桌上的任何一種飯菜都不屬于任何一個(gè)食客,大家為了相同的目的在同一張餐桌旁,面對(duì)相同的飯菜各取所需,解決饑餓問(wèn)題和生存問(wèn)題??曜拥陌l(fā)明是我們祖先的又有一個(gè)創(chuàng)舉??曜永酶軛U原理夾取食物,可以促進(jìn)手、眼協(xié)調(diào)能力,強(qiáng)化手的精細(xì)協(xié)調(diào)動(dòng)作,促進(jìn)視覺發(fā)育,還有健腦益智的作用,相比西方的刀子叉子要更方便的多。所以說(shuō)筷子文化相對(duì)于西方的刀叉文化要先進(jìn)的多。然而吃西餐時(shí),每個(gè)食客只能吃各自的那一份飯菜,不同的飲食文化,歸根結(jié)底就是文化的不同。

      結(jié)束語(yǔ):中西方傳統(tǒng)文化的美與丑是相對(duì)的,不存在絕對(duì)的美與丑,對(duì)中西方文化美與丑的認(rèn)識(shí),更多的反應(yīng)了一個(gè)人的審美價(jià)值?,F(xiàn)在隨著中西方交流越來(lái)越頻繁,世界成了一個(gè)地球村,在面對(duì)文化差異這個(gè)問(wèn)題都要采取積極的態(tài)度。還是那句話,世界上沒(méi)有哪個(gè)民族是優(yōu)勢(shì)民族,也沒(méi)有哪一種方化是劣等文化,為了促進(jìn)交流,我們都要對(duì)中西方的文化進(jìn)行了解,相互理解,相互尊重,取其精華,棄其糟粕。
