詞匯是語(yǔ)言的三要素之一，是語(yǔ)言的基本材料，著名語(yǔ)言學(xué)家里弗也認(rèn)為，掌握足夠的詞匯是成功運(yùn)用外語(yǔ)的關(guān)鍵。后就很難改變。其實(shí)，在英語(yǔ)國(guó)家中此方法通常只用于拼字校對(duì)，如教師了解學(xué)生是否會(huì)正確拼寫(xiě)單詞，旅館人員詢問(wèn)顧客姓名等。

一旦學(xué)生養(yǎng)成這種拼字記憶的習(xí)慣，以詞匯成了學(xué)生的最大的“攔路虎”，嚴(yán)重影響了學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)英語(yǔ)的興趣。筆者認(rèn)為應(yīng)該“對(duì)癥下藥”，采取相應(yīng)的記憶策略。

離開(kāi)詞匯就無(wú)法表達(dá)思想。沒(méi)有足夠的詞匯就不能有效地進(jìn)行聽(tīng)、說(shuō)、讀、寫(xiě)，就無(wú)法有效地用英語(yǔ)進(jìn)行交際。，加之缺少一定的語(yǔ)言環(huán)境，記住一個(gè)單詞需要花很多的時(shí)間和精力，有時(shí)好不容易記住了一個(gè)單詞，可過(guò)幾天又忘了。

然而隨著學(xué)習(xí)內(nèi)容的深入和詞匯量的不斷增加，不少學(xué)生感到單詞難記，遺忘率很高。加之小學(xué)生不會(huì)音標(biāo)許多學(xué)生對(duì)大量詞匯感到力不從心而束手無(wú)策。

這是效率極其低下的方法?？墒窃S多教師仍樂(lè)此不疲。在調(diào)查中本人發(fā)現(xiàn)很多學(xué)生在用拼字法記憶單詞，如question, q-u-e-s-t-i-o-n。a-n-s-w-e-r;answer;e-a-r-l-y, early.這樣的單詞朗讀法不絕于耳。
